The 2024 Louth Beekeepers Programme

- Thursday 25th April 19.30 start Alvingham - The theoretical side of a queen rearing project for the Louth District Beekeepers, I have had a lot of information and practical tips from Jim Pearsons who is a Master Beekeeper, some of you may know him as the skep maker at the Lincolnshire Show, we shall discuss, grafting, cell punching, the Jenter queen rearing system and the Hopkins method. This will be followed up by quite a a few practical's, I have all the equipment needed and have moved a lot of my colonies from my Austen Fen site to make room for this, hopefully this will result in all those interested and taking part being able to walk away with a few mated queens, and something as a district we can hopefully carry forward in subsequent years.

- Sunday 12th May 12.00pm start to 2.00pm. Austen Fen - A discussing and practical demonstration of different swarm control methods, to include the Taranov method, a shook swarm, the demaree method and a full Bailey comb change.

- Saturday 15th June Alvingham start time TBC - For potential new beekeepers an introduction to beekeeping talk and hopefully a practical look through a couple of hives at Austen Fen, but this will depend on if we can get a few members to help out.
